Here is a fun and easy egg-shaped candle for Easter that you can make using beeswax sheets of any color and an egg-shaped cookie cutter. These are the beeswax sheets that we use. This is a great candle making project for children of all ages and they look great displayed on a seasonal table or given as gifts. The egg candles can be decorated in an endless amount of ways using decorating wax sheets and modeling wax. Make sure that you save your scraps from your sheets after cutting them! Instructions for making Easter egg beeswax candles
Step 1: Cut out egg shapes using your cookie cutter
Use your cookie cutter to cut eight egg shapes out of your honeycomb beeswax sheets. I used both natural and white beeswax sheets. Attach four eggs together by aligning the edges and pressing together gently, using the warmth of your hands to help with the adhesion of the wax. Do this twice for each egg to create two halves.
Step 2: How to attach the wick
Stand one half of the egg candle upright and cut a piece of cotton wick that is about 1” longer than the total height. Center the wick and press gently into the wax to attach. Align the edges of both halves together and press together gently to attach. Stand the candle up and press down lightly to flatten out the bottom slightly so that the candle stands upright on its own.
Step 3: How to add the wax decorations
Use your modeling beeswax or decorating wax to mold and create designs on the eggs!
Leftover beeswax sheets
Don’t forget to save all of your beeswax sheet scraps to use them for other projects! Use any leftover strips to make tea lights, or use them to create decorations for other candles by cutting out shapes. If the beeswax sheets that you are using are 100% beeswax they can also be melted back down and the beeswax can be used for other projects.
How to use your beeswax candles
These candles must be placed on a dish or a holder when burning them and make sure that they are securely standing upright before lighting. Beeswax sheets have a bit of tack, so if you apply a little bit of downwards pressure, they will stick easily to the dish. Always trim candle wicks to approximately 1/8” before lighting. Never leave a burning candle unattended and children and pets must be supervised at all times when burning candles.
