Here’s a fun heart-shaped candle that you can make for Valentine’s Day using beeswax sheets and any heart-shaped cookie cutter that you already have. I use a 2″ cookie cutter for the larger candles and a this cookie cutter for the mini candles. We make a batch of these each year to gift to friends. This is a great technique for all skill levels, especially if you are making candles with children. We use this technique year-round to create different themed candles every season. I also love adding decorations using decorating beeswax or modeling wax. If you’re attaching them to cards, modeling beeswax is great for doing so as well.
Materials:
– beeswax sheets (you can expect to get 8-10 larger candles from the kit, or 8 mini candles per sheet)
– cotton candle wick, 3/0 or up to 1/0 depending on how thick your candles are
– heart cookie cutter (mini size)
Instructions for making heart-shaped beeswax candles
Step 1: Cut out shapes using your cookie cutter
Cut eight hearts out your beeswax sheets using your heart-shaped cookie cutter. Attach four hearts together for each side by aligning the edges and pressing them together gently. The warmth of your hands will help with the adhesion of the wax.
Step 2: How to attach the wick
Stand one half of the candle (four heart cutouts pressed together) upright. Cut a piece of wick that is about 1” longer than the height of the heart and press the wick gently into the wax to hold. Attach both halves together by aligning the edges and pressing them together gently.
How to use your beeswax candles
Make sure that you place these candles on a dish to burn them and makes sure that they are securely standing upright before lighting. Never leave a burning candle unattended and always trim candle wicks to approximately 1/4” before lighting. Children and pets must be supervised at all times when burning candles. The larger candles will burn for over an hour and the mini candles will burn for 30-35 minutes.

Love this idea! Do you have an estimate for how many you can make out of one of your candle kits?
Woodlark says
Hi Jess,
It really depends on the size of your cookie cutter and how efficient you are with laying out the shapes but I’d say 8-10 candles per kit. I usually get about a candle and a half from each sheet.
