These paper coffee filter stars are a fun and easy holiday decor idea. They are charming strung up as a garland, hanging from your ceiling or placed on top of gifts. They are also lovely paired with these paper doily snowflakes and are a little simpler to make. I used two different coffee filter sizes (linked below), and I also cut the smaller one down in size to make a small star. I used six halves (three whole coffee filters) per star but you make these with as many points as you’d like. You can use whatever glue fits your needs; I like to use a natural starch-based glue stick. At the end of the season you can store these for future years. To store them, I gently pull one section apart so that it folds up flat again.
Materials:
– paper cone coffee filters
medium (to make 6″ stars)
large (to make 7″ stars)
– glue (I like this glue stick)
Instructions to fold paper coffee filter stars
Step 1: How to fold each section
I used six coffee filter halves per star to create six points. Cut the end seam off of three coffee filters. Unfold each coffee filter and cut in half. Begin folding your coffee filters accordion style. I like to start at the top, lining those top corners up to make sure that each point is the same size. Repeat for all six points.
Step 2: How to attach the sections together
Fold each section in half lengthwise, with the edge that has the rounded end on the inside. Glue that inner portion together to form a point. Repeat for all six points. After all of your points are created, use glue to attach all of them together.
