These fun ghost shaped treat bags are great for filling with bulk candy and little gifts to give out to friends for Halloween. I saw a few renditions of this idea recently and I wanted to make a version of them using upcycled materials! This is a fun way to use up any scraps of paper that you have saved. If you are filling your packets with unwrapped food items make sure that your paper is safe to be in contact with food. I’m using leftover pieces of wrapping paper from previous years and kraft paper saved from packages. These bags can be sewn shut if you have a sewing machine, or glued. When sewing, I like to use cotton thread so that the entire packet is biodegradable as well as recyclable. We filled our packets with the needle felted ghosts that we made! You can download a pattern for the ghost shape below under the material list.
Materials:
– scrap pieces of paper
– glue (non-toxic, if your bag will be coming into contact with food) or a sewing machine
How to make paper ghost treat bags
1. Cut pairs of ghost shapes out of scrap pieces of paper. Create your own pattern and trace it, or download the printable pattern above. Print at 100% when printing the pattern.
2. Sew or glue the top portion of the ghost shut, leaving the bottom of the packet open.
3. Place your treat or gift inside of the packet
4. Sew or glue the bottom of the packet shut.
