Making hand-rolled beeswax candles is a beloved yearly tradition in our house and these smaller sized candles are perfect for any type of celebration or special occasion! They are the perfect size to use as birthday candles on top of a cake, advent candles or to simply give out as gifts. You can create six of these smaller candles out of a single 8ā x 8ā beeswax sheet, so if you’re using the rolled-candle kit from the shop you’ll have enough beeswax sheets to make a total of 36 celebration candles that are 4″ in height.
Materials:
– beeswax sheets
– cotton wick– if you’re using the kit from the shop you’ll need one extra packet of wick
– sharp kitchen knife
– hair dryer (optional)
Instructions for making hand-rolled beeswax candles
Step 1: How to cut your beeswax sheets
Using a sharp kitchen knife, cut an 8ā x 8ā honeycomb beeswax sheet in half. Next, cut each half into thirds. You should end up with six equal sections, each piece measuring approximately 4ā tall by a little under 2.75″ wide.
Step 2: How to attach the wick
Cut a piece of wick that is about 1ā longer than the length of your piece of beeswax. The wick will be attached to the 4″ long edge, resulting in candles that are approximately 4″ long. Place the wick along the bottom edge and warm the end of the sheet using a hair dryer (optional). The hair dryer will help to soften the wax so that you can roll the candles tightly but it isn’t necessary. Securely wrap the end of the beeswax sheet around the wick.
Step 3: How to hand-roll beeswax candles
Warm the entire sheet for a few seconds using your hair dryer (optional). Begin rolling, making sure that you are rolling tightly and that the edges are straight. Press the edges down firmly to finish.

Step 4: Ideas for Using your Celebration candles
– Use them as birthday candles to put on top of a cake.
– Make advent candles by cutting four 8″x8″ sheets cut into sixths to create twenty-four candles. We make a salt-dough advent spiral every year and alternate twelve candles with nature items for each day, leading up to a single walnut shell candle in the center for the final day.
– Use them as gift toppers! Bundle a few candles together and tie with natural twine for a charming gift topper
– Decorate your candles using decorating beeswax or modeling beeswax.
